Well after a lovely short flight we reach Goa. Yay. Couldnt wait to get to the apartment and go to the beach or sit by the pool. After being in Jaipur, Udaipur and Mumbai we really needed some chill out time. Unfortunately this wouldn’t be as soon as I thought. Collected our luggage and made our way to the pre paid taxi rank. Normally you just walk up and instantly and get a taxi. Oh no not this time. The queue was massive. We queued for one and half hours for the taxi. Never mind. On our way now. Oh well let’s start the holiday with some cocktails. Cheap as well, £1.50. This was my favourite a frozen daiquiri.
Christmas Day in Goa, well what can I say not quite a traditional day. Morning by the pool followed by a sort of traditional dinner (beef) and apple pie and ice cream followed by lots of cocktails and beers down the beech for sunset. Maybe the pictures say it all

New Years Eve began with a beautiful meal at Tuscanys, a quaint little Italian. It’s so cheap out here. 3 course meal with drinks £15. Bargain 🍻🍹finished off with ‘The Don’ dessert. Mmm.
Off to beach for some excitement. Well, the Indians really celebrate in style if not a little too early. They get so excited that they can’t wait until 12 to let their fireworks off and once one shack has let them off early each one races to set theirs off. Miles and miles of organised fireworks. Well maybe I exaggerated on that one. No organisation or health and safety at all. The crowd infront of us suddenly turned to face us with terror on their facesrunning towards us. You might of expected a terroist attack or a tsunami wave. But no. A spark had got into the firework box and set them all off. The crowd ran some even ducking under tables whilst the fireworks were whooshing and banging in all directions. We did laugh 😂😂😂 even more when the same happened to the shack next to us five minutes later.

I wish I had the guts to try the street food it looks delicious.

It really is role reversal out here. The men in groups screaming and holding hands whilst the woman work.
Well our time in Goa is over and it’s off to new places. Kerala. But to get there we thought we would try a sleeper train. How could we say we had travelled around India if we didn’t try this. It was a 16 hour journey. Why not we said. 😯
Off to the Thivim train station in which we arrived one hour early after the panic in Jaipur station which was so busy. Haha. It was a tiny station and to added to that hour we were six and a half hours delayed meaning that instead of leaving at 6.30pm we left a 1am. 💤.

This is me when I arrived.
This is me six hours later
So we get on the train and eventually find our seats. Everybody is asleep and curtains are closed. We have a side sleeper meaning that the bottom seats face each other and fold down to make a bunk. The top is a bunk. Well laugh. 😭neither of us could get up there was no ladder just one foot step and the top bunk was held up by two chains. Thankfully eventually Graham pulled, I pushed and up he got if not backwards. We slept ok to be woken up by sellers yelling ‘chai’ up and down the train. I had a half decent onelette for breakfast and eventually we arrived at Kerala many hours late. Would we do it again. I would but Graham says ‘no way’. We’ll see 😜
